Students studying MA Marketing and Digital Communications (Online) and BA(Hons) Marketing Communications have received a boost to their employment prospects with the news that the courses have been accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).

In addition to graduating with a degree, the CIM accreditation means that Falmouth students can attain qualifications from the Institute quicker and cheaper than ever before.

Once attained, the CIM qualifications have a positive impact on career progression.

According to a survey completed by CIM course graduates, 60% of employees said that they were given more responsibility in their roles after undertaking a CIM course.

Additionally, the survey revealed that a third of CIM graduates were promoted or received a pay rise within 12 months of completing a CIM course.

The CIM accreditation means that students will only have to complete one CIM assessment instead of the usual three to attain their qualifications.

They’ll also have the ability to combine their degree with the CIM courses, making for more convenient study.

Amber Burton, Senior Lecturer & Course Leader in MA (Online) Marketing & Digital Communications, sees the accreditation as another opportunity for students to develop their skills in tandem with their course.

“The CIM professional qualifications will add extra impact for those graduates who want to head towards client-side marketing and branding roles, as well as put candidates on the path to lifelong professional development long after they have finished their degrees.

“We are looking forward to students getting involved with the many opportunities offered in CIM networking, events and knowledge base, and to working with the CIM to prepare marketing professionals for the future.”

Maureen Wincott, Learner Partnerships Manager at CIM, said that the accelerated pace with which students can study the CIM courses “will help students kickstart their marketing careers and fast-track their development.”

Maureen added that she would continue “to work closely with Falmouth to help students achieve their professional goals and gain the recognition that is valuable with employers in the marketing and business industries.”
